Living in Abundance
We often think of abundance as something we need to manifest — a vision board, a gratitude affirmation, a mindset shift. And while those tools can be helpful, abundance can be far more expansive than a personal practice.
It’s not only about calling in more for ourselves, or practising gratitude but creating space for everyone to thrive.
For many of us, the concept of abundance has been shaped by a culture of scarcity. A belief that there’s only so much to go around — joy, success, security, love — and that when someone else gets more, we get less. Yoga invites us to unlearn this fear-based view and remember the truth of both/and. The kind of abundance that is unlimited, and rooted in our shared humanity.
To remember, as the teachings say, that we are not separate from the source of life, but expressions of it.
But is there another way to look at abundance?
True abundance does not ignore hardship. It doesn’t tell us that if we’re struggling, it’s because we’ve failed to think positively enough. It doesn’t commodify lack. Instead, a soulful abundance practice begins with compassion — for ourselves, for others, and for the systems that shape our experience.
It listens deeply. It acknowledges pain. It asks, How can I show up for those around me? How can I serve?
One of the most powerful teachings in yoga is seva — selfless service. It reminds us that when we share our time, our voice, our care, and our energy, we don't lose anything — we grow something.
- We grow connection.
- We grow community.
- We grow possibility.
So today we ponder, is abundance not just a mindset? Is it a beautiful way of being in the world?
Perhaps abundance is not about having more, but being more present — to beauty, to truth, and to one another.
